The Romans already cultivated vines in the climatically favoured region south of Vienna more than 2,000 years ago. In the Middle Ages, winemaking experienced a real heyday under the leadership of the Cistercian monks. The Burgundian monks quickly recognised the value of this extraordinary terroir. The present Thermenregion wine region was created with the Austrian wine law of 1985, when the areas of Gumpoldskirchen and Bad Vöslau were merged.

The geological and climatic conditions of the Thermenregion offer us the possibility of producing elegant white wines as well as rich red wines.
